Mr Sooriakumaran, widely known as PS (@PSUrol), is one of the UK’s best known prostate cancer surgeons and the most followed UK urologist on LinkedIn and Twitter. He trained in robotic surgery at Cornell University in New York and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, under the global pioneers of this surgery. PS is one of the UK’s highest volume prostate cancer surgeons, and his patient outcomes are similar to the most experienced surgeons globally. PS is a global leader in the surgical management of metastatic prostate cancer, salvage robotic prostatectomy, Retzius-sparing prostatectomy, and nerve sparing during prostate cancer surgery, topics in which he has published globally-penetrating research. As one of the leading academic prostate cancer surgeons in the UK, PS is regularly invited to give state-of-the-art lectures all over the world on his surgical techniques and research studies. PS has won a number of accolades including the Prostate Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Award, the Vice-Chancellor’s Alumni Achievement Award, The Urology Foundation Research Scholar Medal, the American Society of Clinical Oncology Merit Award, and London’s Most Influential Doctor 2019, among others. Sadly, he lost out three times to a Frenchman, German, and Italian respectively for the European Association of Urology Crystal Matula Award given to the most promising young academic urologist in Europe. Unrelated to this, PS is a keen Brexit supporter.
