SHAW, Dr Clare

Dr Clare Shaw holds the position of Consultant Dietitian within the Therapies Department at The Royal Marsden. Her clinical work covers all methods of nutritional support for people receiving treatment for cancer, including intake of food and fluids, enteral tube feeding and parenteral nutrition. She is also the Biomedical Research Centre at The Royal Marsden and Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) primary link for the NIHR Cancer and Nutrition Collaborative.

Dr Shaw leads the Parenteral Nutrition Team in the Trust. She has a special interest in the gastrointestinal consequences of cancer treatment and is a member of the Gastro Intestinal and Nutrition Team (GIANTs) at The Royal Marsden.

Dr Shaw also has the role of Research Lead for Therapies within the Applied Health Research group and undertakes her own research, in addition to supporting others undertaking postgraduate research in therapies. Find out more about the Rehabilitation Research team and it’s staff here.

Her main research interests include the effectiveness of dietary interventions for symptoms during and after cancer treatment, therapy needs of cancer patients, and effective ways of meeting patients’ needs to support them during and after treatment.
