Dr Alicia Okines is a Consultant Medical Oncologist in breast and acute oncology, and Chair of the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee at The Royal Marsden.
She completed her specialist medical oncology training at The Royal Marsden in 2015 and completed an MD(Res) investigating targeted agents at the Institute of Cancer Research with Professor David Cunningham. She has widely published in peer-reviewed journals about cancer treatments. Dr Okines has special interest in neo-adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer and treating metastatic breast cancer, including brain disease. She is leading a UK trial for lobular breast cancer and was appointed Honorary Faculty at the Institute of Cancer Research. In 2019, she joined the Chelsea Research Ethics Committee as an expert member.
In 2015, Dr Okines set-up The Royal Marsden’s Acute Oncology Service in Chelsea, a service designed for patients who require unplanned support in managing the complications of their cancer or the side effects of treatments.
