Chemotherapy Nurse Consultant, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London
Dr Catherine Oakley is the immediate past president of the UK Oncology Nursing Society and a Chemotherapy Nurse Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Catherine is an advocate for holistic chemotherapy nursing. She co-developed an award-winning oral chemotherapy patient diary. Her NIHR funded PhD conducted through Kings College London University, explored why patients’ delay presenting with neutropenic sepsis. Catherine was a member of the Cancer Taskforce that developed the National Cancer Strategy and represents nursing on the National Chemotherapy Clinical Reference Group and the UK Chemotherapy Board. She is the lead author for the National Chemotherapy Board Good Practice Guideline: Promoting Early Identification of SACT Side Effects. She is the lead for the UKONS SACT Competency Passport and associated national training.
