Remi Nout combines his clinical work in the Leiden University Medical Center as Radiation – Oncologist with research. As clinician his special interests are the treatment of gynaecological cancers, image guided radiotherapy and brachytherapy. As researcher he is involved in the PORTEC study group of which results of the randomised PORTEC-1 and PORTEC-2 trials form the basis of his PhD thesis. He is involved in translational research of the PORTEC trials and co-principal investigator in the ongoing PORTEC-4a trial. He is a senior researcher within the EMBRACE studies on image guided brachytherapy for cervical cancer with a special interest in Quality of Life, sexual and vaginal morbidity aspects. Within GEC ESTRO GYN group he chairs a subcommittee that is working on the implementation of image guided brachytherapy concepts for vaginal cancer. He is currently radiation representative in the council of the International Society of Gynaecological Cancer (IGCS), is treasurer of the Dutch Gynaecological Oncology Group and is chair of the Dutch Platform for Radiotherapy of Gynaecological Malignancies. He has been involved in recent multidisciplinary European Guidelines for endometrial cancer (ESGO-ESMO-ESTRO) and cervical cancer (ESGO-ESTRO-ESP).
