Mr Nicola de’ Liguori-Carino is a Consultant Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgeon working at the HPB Unit at Manchester Royal Infirmary, University of Manchester.
Mr de’ Liguori-Carino completed his surgical training in 2005 at University of Rome, Italy, with a period spent at the Ohio University Hospital, Columbus, USA. He spent 4 years specialising in HPB and transplant surgery at the University of Liverpool and Leeds before being appointed Consultant in Manchester in 2009.
The HPB Unit in Manchester is one of the busiest in Europe and Mr de’ Liguori Carino has extensive experience in HPB surgery having performed an excess of 600 among liver and pancreatic resections. His fields of interests are in advanced laparoscopic surgery and in Irreversible Electroporation (IRE) for pancreatic cancer for which he has given a major contribute to establish this technique in the UK. His Unit is currently one of the very few offering this service in the UK.
His commitment to research projects has been constant over the years with a special interest to Geriatric Surgical Oncology. Has been and currently is PI for multicentre international studies.
Member of the BASO (British Society of Surgical Oncology), ESSO (European Society of Surgical Oncology), IHPBA (International Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Association) and SIOG (International Society of Geriatric Oncology).
