Lisa Licitra is Board-certified in medical oncology, with special expertise in the treatment of head and neck cancers and her current research fields of interest are Head and Neck Neoplasms, Evidence-based Medicine and Clinical Methodology in Oncology, Quality of Life and Data-Driven Research.

She is currently Director of Medical Oncology Head and Neck Cancer Department at the Istituto Nazionale Tumori in Milan, Italy and Associated Professor at University of Milan, Italy. Dr Licitra has been involved in clinical and translational research in the field of head and neck cancer for over 25 years. She is conducting as PI several clinical studies but more importantly academic studies with original translational research. She has been recipient of several prizes for academic research like “Honorary Award “Guido Venosta” for important head and neck cancer studies that, with a multidisciplinary approach, brought to new personalized treatments, designing a model suitable for the tratment of other cancers, the “Hubertus Wald Award” prize of University Cancer Center Hamburg, a Membership Award of the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ESTRO) and Honorary Membership Award from the Israeli Society of Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology.

She has been founding member of EHNS (European Head and Neck Society) and served as board member for several years. She has been chair of the EORTC Head and Neck group and is still Vice Presedent EORTC . For the last mandate she served as chair of the QAC committee. She has been chair of the education committee for head and neck cancer of ESMO.

She is domain leader within EURACAN (European reference network) for head and neck cancer.
At present she is president of the Italian Head and Neck Society (AIOCC) and Scientific Director Fondazione CNAO (Centro Nazionale di Adroterapia Oncologica per il trattamento dei tumori). Furthermore, for the Scientific and editorial activities she is /has been Associate Editor di Annals of Oncology, Section Editor Journal of Neurological Surgery Part B: Skull Base, Member of the Editorial Board Oral Oncology and of Cancers of the Head & Neck, Accociate Editor Oral Oncology.

Dr Licitra has written 23 book chapters and 268 scientific articles.
