Golden Jubilee (National Hospital)
Alan is a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Clydebank, near Glasgow and Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Glasgow.
He graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1979 and undertook surgical and Cardiothoracic training in Glasgow, Newcastle and Bristol.
Initially appointed as a mixed practice Cardiothoracic Consultant in 1994 in Glasgow, it look a little time for him to see the light and become a General Thoracic Surgeon at the Golden Jubilee in 2008.
He is Lead Clinician in Thoracic Surgery and is involved in a unit that provides the full range of Thoracic Surgical repertoire excluding transplantation. The Thoracic unit at the Golden Jubilee has just received full Board approval for a robot which will augment our flourishing minimally invasive programme.
He is Principal Investigator for a number of Thoracic Oncology projects such as PULMICC, MARS2, MesobanK, Mesotrap & TracerX.
Alan is a member of the West of Scotland Lung Cancer Advisory Board, a member of BTOG steering committee, an international Councillor on ITMIG Steering Group and Secretary-elect for ITMIG.
