HARDY, Dr Claire

Dr Claire Hardy is a Senior Lecturer specialising in Organisational Health and Wellbeing within the Faculty of Health and Medicine’s Division of Health Research at Lancaster University. With a background in psychology from the University of York and an MSc and PhD in Occupational Psychology from the Institute of Work, Health and Organisations at the University of Nottingham, Claire has dedicated her career to helping develop evidence-based practice to encourage better workforce wellbeing and resilience. Her research encompasses various facets of work psychology, with a particular focus on employee/worker wellbeing and psychological resilience, especially within the challenging landscape of oncology. Since 2020, Claire has been an invited expert member to the European Society for Medical Oncology’s (ESMO) Resilience Taskforce, who have been looking at work, wellbeing and resiliency of oncologists from around the world. She has also been involved in a research project focusing on NHS cancer care workers during COVID-19 to understand experiences and develop recommendations for the future. She has become a regular invited speaker at both national and international oncology events to share her knowledge and expertise on worker wellbeing and resilience. As a registered Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, Claire brings a wealth of expertise to her consultancy work as well, where she collaborates with organisations to help them foster healthier and more resilient working environments for its people.
