Anita Balakrishnan is a Consultant Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) Surgeon at the Cambridge Hepatopancreatobiliary Unit, and Associate Lecturer at the University of Cambridge. Her academic research interest focuses on the investigation of the evolution of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma via a transgenic study of the role of DNA damage repair in the development of pancreatic cancer at the MRC Cancer Unit, University of Cambridge. She was awarded the Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England for her PhD research carried out at Harvard Medical School. Her clinical research interests include the management of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms and she is Chief Investigator of the multicenter Pancreatic Cyst Evaluation (PaCE) study, evaluating molecular biomarkers to risk stratify pancreatic cystic lesions.
