Mr Jawad Ahmad is a consultant Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic (HPB) surgeon at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. He has specialist interest in robotic surgery and currently he is the only accredited robotic HPB surgery trainer in the UK. Jawad completed most of his specialist surgical training in Northern Ireland and gained further specialist experience by way of organised fellowships at internationally reputable teaching hospitals and visited specialist HPB units around the world. He started robotic surgery in 2018 with the help of Olivier St. Marc (Orleans France) but then mostly self-taught many complex procedures due to limited opportunities at the time. He is now robotic HPB lead at GBIHPBA and director of ALSGBI robotic surgery courses. He is keen on teaching and have started multiple new robotic HPB programmes all over the UK. He is one of five specialist robotic HPB trainer in Europe and has developed his unit into a case observation centre. Jawad is active in research as well, he is sub-editor of Journal of Robotic surgery. He is associate professor at Warwick Medical school and remains keen on teaching and training.
